How Does My Garden Grow

By Jandi Theis

Hey Friends!

I'm just stopping in to share some photos and give you a quick update on the progress of my garden. A couple of weeks ago, I came home from work to find a garden in a box… my Tower Garden had been delivered! I planted the seeds two weeks ago today. This is the photo I took at that time…

I can't even tell you how many times in the last two weeks I have looked at this tray, sometimes several times a day looking to see if something green has popped up. Well, I am excited and thrilled with the progress and happy to report that all of my seeds have sprouted! This growing business is fun stuff! Not only do I have sprouts, I have plants!

Here are a few photos to show you how my garden grows…

Day #7 ~ In just 7 days since planting the seeds, I already had 6 plants growing!

Day #8 ~ The babies are a little bigger and another has sprouted.

Day #14 ~ I took this picture this morning. Although it's hard to see here, there is something sprouted in all 17 pots. My Tower Garden will hold 20 plants, but I have saved three pots for strawberry plants. Since I've heard they take a long time to germinate, I'm going to buy the strawberry plants from a local greenhouse.

These plants belong to my good friend, Lorena… they were 14 days old when I took this picture. As you can see, she has more plants than I do… that's because she purchased an extender kit for her Tower Garden, giving her the capability to plant eight more plants. (She also saved some pots to add strawberry plants later.)

This is my Tower Garden, ready and waiting for some plants. This was an easy assembly, and although I was prepared to do it by myself, I was happy to have my parents stop by on Mother's Day, just in time for my dad to help put it together. It took the two of us maybe 15 minutes… and it would have been less time if we hadn't stopped to find a washer to replace the one that I dropped between the boards on the deck!

Some of my plants already have some good roots growing, so I think they will be ready for their permanent home in the Tower Garden in the next day or two. I think it's time to go shopping for strawberry plants! :)

Stay tuned for an update and until then…

A Garden In A Box

A Garden In A Box

By Jandi Theis

When I walked through the door after work yesterday, that box in the photo above was the first thing I saw…

My garden has arrived! I didn’t have to wait long… I just placed my order last Friday, so I was excited to see it here already! I have to admit, a year ago, if someone had told me I would be ordering a garden online and then getting excited about its delivery, I probably would have laughed at them.

This is what was in that big box…

Well, actually, these are all of the pieces that, once assembled, will become the Tower Garden, as well as everything else needed to get started, including seeds.

The Tower Garden is a state-of-the-art vertical aeroponic growing system. Here are a few of the many benefits to owning your own Tower Garden:

  • Healthy, vine ripened fruits and vegetables.
  • There is no dirt, so no weeding, no soil amendments, and no fertilizer or miracle grow to apply.
  • There is no need to till the soil because there isn’t any.
  • The plants get their nutrients when you add the “Tower Tonic” mineral solution to the water reservoir at the bottom.
  • A Tower Garden grows healthier produce fast… seed to harvest is 6 to 8 weeks.
  • It’s economically and environmentally smarter than traditional gardening, reducing the carbon footprint and saving fuel.
  •  A Tower Garden uses about 5 to 10% of the water of traditional gardening.
  • One Tower Garden holds 20 plants and will yield as much produce as 2 raised 8’x4’ planter beds.
  • It’s very simple to use – no green thumb or gardening expertise required.
  • It fits almost anywhere – on the patio, deck, or by the front door. In the winter, if you have grow lights, you can even keep it in the garage or inside with grow lights.

Along with minerals, oxygen is also critical to growing plants and these roots are exposed to the air all the time. They are also “rained on” by the water and mineral solution at regular intervals.

This evening, I got my seeds planted in the starter tray. I planted pumpkins, watermelon, cantaloupe, cucumbers, green beans, tomatoes, squash, peppers, basil, cilantro, parsley, lettuce, spinach and pansies. I saved three of the starter cubes because I also want to plant some strawberries.

I’ve never been much of a gardener, but with this system, it seems like even I will be able to grow something! In the weeks to come, I’ll keep you posted on how my garden grows as well as sharing more details about the Tower Garden and the benefits of raising your own fruits and vegetables.

If you don’t want to wait and would like more details now… or would just like to see what a Tower Garden looks like when it’s put together, just click here. How exciting to be able to grow your own fruits and vegetables right in your own back yard, porch, or balcony!
